Kia Motors has teased the Next-Gen Kia Carnival in an officially released image. The global debut of the next-gen Kia Carnival is set in 3rd quarter of 2020. The image shows the MPV with a stronger, more stylish presence, new details and an SUV-inspired design, Kia designers have even dubbed the new model a ‘Grand Utility Vehicle’. The overall design follows Kia’s new design philosophy ‘symphonic architecture’.
In the Korean specification, the sole sketch reveals the wider and bolder tiger-nose grille on the new Carnival with the sharp and slim headlamps that will be all-LED with a signature design for the daytime running lights. It looks sportier than before too, courtesy blackened pillars and a bold character line which runs the length of the car. There are stylishly designed alloys too which are huge in proportions.
The new Carnival will grow in proportions too. It will be about 40mm longer than the current model, pushing the length to 5,150mm. The next-gen Kia Carnival will be 10mm wider. The wheelbase too has reportedly grown by 30 mm at 3090 mm. The quarter-glass has definitely grown in size, which will be welcomed by passengers in the last row.
A 2199cc four-cylinder common rail direct injection VGT diesel BS6 compliant engine powers the current model of the Carnival. We expect the new model to come with an updated version of the same 2.2-litre diesel engine. It might also get the 2.5-litre turbo-petrol engine from the latest Kia Sorento which develops 280hp. Chances are, it will also get the 1.6-litre petrol hybrid engine.
The new Kia Carnival will go on sale in South Korea in the third quarter of 2020, with global sales to follow by early 2021. The Next-gen Kia Carnival will arrive india by 2022.
