MG India has made quite a display at the biennial motor show, the Auto Expo 2020, by introducing an array of vehicles. MG has also brought out its MPV, the MG G10. The G10 MPV has been unveiled in India with the launch expected in the second half of 2020. From the looks of it, it will pretty much sit in the same space as the Kia Carnival and could also undercut it in terms of price and be closer to the Toyota Innova Crysta. The MG G10 can be configured to seat 7 to 9 passengers including the driver.
In terms of dimensions, the MG G10 MPV is similar to the Kia Carnival, measuring 5168 mm in length, 1980 mm in width, 1928 mm in height, and 3198 mm wheelbase, joining the new growing league of full-size MPVs in India. The MG G10 will also be offered in 7- and 9-seater configuration, with the former featuring captain seats in the second row. The G10 comes with sliding functions for both second and third-row seats in the 7-seater configuration. Here is a quick comparison between the G10 and Carnival:
|Dimensions||MG G10||Kia Carnival|
The G10 is longer and taller than the Carnival but Kia’s sporty design gives it an extra 5mm width over the MG. In terms of the exterior design, the G10 lacks the visual presence of the Carnival despite the extra size. The G10 features a large 3-piece panoramic sunroof, voice recognition, and other smart features seen on current MG offerings via the i-Smart system. All of this can be accessed via the 10.1 touchscreen infotainment display on the dashboard. It also gets the option of a power-adjustable front passenger seat.
In China, the G10 is available with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged engine that churns out 223 bhp and 345 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. There is also a 2.4-litre diesel engine on offer mated to a six-speed manual transmission or 1.9-litre. The turbocharged diesel engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
